2016 John H. Kauffman Prostate Cancer Research Fundraising Initiatives benefiting the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University will include the 20th Annual Golf Outing to be held Tuesday, May 10, at DCC.
Sponsored by the Champions Golf Association, this Texas Scramble will begin with a shotgun start, and includes lunch, complimentary beverages during play, and an evening reception-dinner with complimentary beverages, plus silent and live auctions with outstanding items. Sign up at the Golf Pro Shop or front desk.
This event is open to non-golfers. All Club Member are invited to participate in the evening activities for just $50. Live auction items this year include private homes and condominiums in Colorado, Savannah and Florida. Golf foursomes at East Lake Golf Club and Reynolds Plantation. Instruction for four at the Delta Air Lines Flight Simulator, a wine tasting dinner at the Club by DCC Chef Eric DaRin, Villa experience with wine tours in Tuscany, or a round of golf with Atlanta Falcon All Pro Chris DiMarco.
The Champions Golf Association has distinguished Dunwoody Country Club as the single most successful community fundraiser benefiting prostate cancer research at Winship. Last year alone, $215,000 was raised. Winship matched this amount dollar for dollar through their own fundraising efforts, bringing last year’s total to $430,000.
Event donations are used as seed capital for innovative research by some of the world’s top oncologists and scientists working at Winship. When these research projects prove successful, applications are submitted for multi-million dollar federal grants. Many DCC members are significant contributors to this effort, and we hope with all our fundraising efforts we can continued to be a $200,000/ year plus yearly contributor to Emory.
Every DCC member is invited to participate in this event to play golf, attend the evening activities or both. These events benefit prostate cancer patients worldwide.
